Advance Warning
As promised, here is a little advance info on the materials required for the first pattern. It requires one skein of variegated yarn and one skein of solid and US #1 needles. The weight is fingering and Felicia did the test knit with Lorna’s Laces Shepherd Sock (of course).
Since we both have some commitments this weekend, we’ve revised the release time to some time early Saturday morning. It’ll probably be close to 8 or 9 am EST. In the future we’ll give you a window for the release time rather than a specific time. It’ll make us a little less crazy.
We suggest strongly that you use the Flickr blog to communicate with each other since Felicia and I may not always be available to answer questions.
Speaking of questions, many of you have asked about the divisions and how long we’ll use them. The answer is – till the very end of the competition. In a nutshell, this is how it will work. At the end of the first round, the first 16 people in each division to finish and post a completed pair of socks will advance. We will pair you off within the division and, in the next round you will be competing against the person your paired off with. By round 6 there will be one person left from each division and there will be a semifinal round where the 4 remaining players will be paired off 2 by 2. (The semifinal round is the first time that a novice will find themself up against an experienced knitter.) In the final round there will be just 2 players competing.
We plan on using the division pages as a visual representation of what’s going on so that ought to help keep it straight.
